The photobook tells the story of the peripheral district Sacca Fisola in Venice. It is made of a stack of loose sheets wrapped in elastic band and plastics. On the sheets there are photos, audio graphics, titles and texts, which are printed on different textured/coloured and sometimes folded papers.
I tried to explore the performative potential of book as medium. The book creates an intimate space between hands, separated from the rest of the world, where the rhythm of time is present and rigid, yet personal and differentiated. It could also involve auditory, tactile, olfactory senses other than visual. It has a narration, but the loose sheets invite audiences to change the sequence, share the sheets between each other, and eventually add other photos/notes. In this sense, a book could be a theatre without the dictatorship of theatre.
