The video essay explores the physical memory of the digital medium, which is carried by the material silica; meanwhile silica is one of the most common components of earth crust, embodying the memory of the planet in millennia. It also tries to search for the presence of humane gesture on the technological interface as well as the poetics of the digital language, both semantically and sonically.
The video essay was created through the recomposition of fragments from the essay Sublime Earth in the book Planetary Cinema by Tiago de Luca and the film Erde by Nikolaus Geyrhalter, mainly using the technic of screen-camera-recording as an apparatus to reveal the proper research process with the technology of internet.
