A community centre in old town Munich housing different activities across floors. A central massive column, which encloses vertical circulation, creates a sense of togetherness for being present in every room as a softly curved surface. Suited to specific uses, spaces have different atmospheres and compose a vertical spatial sequence together. Wandering through, one lives a sensual experience of constant change of light, material, proportion and sound.
I explored how space configuration could evoke emotions and memories stored in our bodies, imply activities, and create subtle narrations. I found making architecture similar to theatre, where imaginary scenes are projected in future space and put together in time to create another reality. I see a building as an open performative structure, the dwellers as performers, who define time by their movement, and the script is collectively written from moment to moment.
